MarMac Real Estate has a wonderful history of giving back to our communities, and MarMac Charities, Inc. has become the heart of this caring organization. This year MarMac Charities, Inc. is a proud sponsor of seven local non-profits, including Refuge of Grace, Neighborhood Christian Center, Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County, Sav-a-Life Pregnancy Center,  Wet Nose Volunteers of Decatur Animal Services, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of North Alabama, and LIFE House Food Pantry.

Funding for these non-profits comes from fundraisers like our annual MarMac Charities Golf Tournament and proceeds from donations and sales at the Hope Home Thrift Store, owned and operated by MarMac Charities. Donations may be dropped off at the Thrift Store, or call during daily business hours to schedule a pickup of your items. All donations are tax deductible.

All profits, excluding operating costs of the Thrift Store, benefit our selected local charities.

Thank you!

Our community is special.  We do our best to support those that support our neighbors.

Your support is appreciated and will go directly to our supported charities.

Our Mission:
The mission of the Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc. is to provide compassionate, Christ-centered ministry to the practical and spiritual needs of the city’s poor.

Matthew 25:35-36
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Our Vision: Our vision for NCC is a community that lives and proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By conducting ministry that meets both practical and spiritual needs, we envision a transformation in the lives of those we serve, in effect “changing a generation.” Since 1978, NCC has laid a strong foundation of ministry in our community, and the coming years will build on that foundation to reach even more people by training likeminded churches and individuals to carry out compassionate, Christ-centered ministry.

Our Values: Jesus Christ taught that in order to love Him, we must be His imitators. To imitate Christ, we must abide in Him, thereby coming to know His heart. The Psalmist reveals the heart of Christ:

Psalm 146:7-9
“He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free. The LORD gives sight to the blind; the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous. The LORD watches over the alien; and sustains the fatherless and the widow; but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.”

At the core of our values is providing compassionate and Christ-centered ministry to those Christ came to serve: the oppressed, the hungry, the captive, the blind, the lowly, the alien, the orphan and the widow. This involves:

Holistic Ministry: As exemplified by Christ Himself, we believe that Christ-centered, compassionate ministry must address both physical and spiritual needs; therefore, our approach to ministry addresses the development of the whole person.

Integrity: We live out the faith that we profess; serving with reverence and humility as our motivators, rather than self-fulfillment.

Consistency: We believe that compassionate, responsible people are formed beginning in childhood; therefore, we implement long-term programs, remaining steadfast figures in the lives of children throughout their lives.

Replication: Just as the imitation of Christ produces Christ-like behavior, we believe that by investing in the lives of people and by training churches, our mission is being replicated.

Respect: We respect those we serve, believing that they are our brothers and sisters, and to serve them is a privilege.

Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County is a nonprofit Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in Morgan County, Alabama. We provide opportunities for the community to show God’s love in action in partnership with people in need, as we break the cycle of poverty by providing decent, affordable housing and improving the quality of life of our partner families.

Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

A team of Refuge of Grace leaders teach a weekly Bible study in the Morgan County Jail. This enables them to love, pray for, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with these women – many of whom have never owned or studied a Bible. This time in the jail also enables the leaders an opportunity to get to know the women as they develop relationships and better assess potential residents for the Refuge of Grace Residential Program. Courts in five North Alabama counties recognize Refuge of Grace as an alternative to jail and/or prison.

The Wet Nose Volunteers of Decatur Animal Services, part of The Community Foundation of Greater Decatur (a non-profit 501(c)(3)), are devoted to providing care, comfort, and compassion for the pets at Decatur Animal Services. We strive to supply additional resources for the shelter staff, be advocates for the animals, engage the hearts, hands, and minds of the community, reduce shelter intake, and promote adoptions into forever homes. Money raised through fundraisers is used to lower adoption fees or provide adoption incentives for long-term and hard-to-place dogs and cats, help with spay and neuter efforts, or to promote the health and well-being of the shelter residents.

Volunteer Meetings:

Monthly volunteer meetings are held at 6 pm on the first Thursday of every month in the education room at Decatur Animal Services. Meetings last around an hour. We discuss any shelter issues, past and upcoming events and animals for which to reduce adoption fees. This is a great way to keep up with upcoming events and discuss any ideas you may have. All current volunteers are welcome to join us.

Volunteer Classes are announced on the DAS facebook page.

Sav-A-Life Pregnancy Center is a Christian, pro-life ministry proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and providing practical, emotional and spiritual assistance to women, men, and children who face pregnancy related issues, who are threatened by abortion or who suffer harm from abortion.

Statement of Faith:

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We believe in the deity of  our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracle, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential, and that salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and not as a result of good works.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life and to perform good works.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost they that are saved unto resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
